Four Required Math Concepts to be Used in Art Assignment 1
1)
Euclidean
Constructions (Math Concept) *
(Choose a minimum of one of these Euclidean Construction iterations for art assignment 1)
Iterations (or subcategories) for this Math Concept to choose from:
-Perpendicular Bisector Construction
-Duplicating an Angle Construction
-Parallel Lines Constructions
-Finding the Center of the Circle Constructions
-Circles Touching Construction
-Segmenting a Line ( into Equal Parts) Construction
2)
Golden
Ratio Constructions (Math Concept)*
(Choose a minimum of one these Golden Ratio Construction iterations for art assignment 1)
Iterations (or subcategories) for this Math Concept to choose from:
-Golden Rectangle Constructions
-Golden Spiral Construction
-Golden Acute Triangle Construction
-Golden Obtuse Triangle Construction
and related Golden Ration topics (other sub categories of
Golden Ratio) are:
-Regular Pentagon Constructions
-Fibonacci Sequence (shapes, diagrams or constructions)
(Choose a minimum of one these Symmetry iterations for art assignment 1)
Iterations (or subcategories) for this Math Concept to choose from:
(Choose a minimum of one these Geometric Shapes for art assignment 1)
(Random Geometric Shapes without the use of math constructions)
Iterations (or subcategories) for this Math Concept to choose from:
-Circle
-Square
-Rectangle (that is not a Golden Rectangle)
-Triangle (various asymmetrical triangles or equilateral triangles) (not Golden Triangles)
-Various asymmetrical geometric shapes
* Notes Regarding Construction Lines:
Putting in construction lines can bring visual variety, complexity and unity to the art assignments (in both Art Assignment 1 & Art Assignment 2).
Think about using construction lines once the assignment is getting close to having the composition choices confirmed, and/or after adding colour to shapes.
In the later part of the composition process and design process of the assignment try to utilize the following benefits of construction lines:
-Construction lines can expand the progression of space when construction lines are overlapped with other construction lines that have different colour and thickness.
-Construction lines can also help direct the viewer's eye through the composition by reinforcing moment and flow created by other shapes through the composition.
-Construction lines can be a countermovement to other movements in the composition.
-Construction lines can help connect one area of the composition to another area of the composition.
-Construction lines can also be broken, segmented, or dotted to bring more variety and complexity to the work.
-Be precise with the construction lines (particularly in the middle ground and foreground areas). Precise edges and lines can be created with markers, coloured pencils, stencils, masking tape (as demonstrated in video demos), and cut out coloured paper.
-Various asymmetrical geometric shapes
